FOX Wants 'North Shore' Team to Commit 'Murder' FOX has given a put pilot commitment to "Murder Book," a police procedural from "North Shore" showrunners Chris Brancato and Bert Salke. The Hollywood Reporter helpfully explains that the title refers to the evidence file compiled on murder cases in Los Angeles. The series would focus on two LAPD detectives as they attempt to solve a homicide."The book is the vehicle from which the crimes are solved and [the] drivers, so to speak, of that vehicle are the two homicide investigators," Salke says.Salke and Brancato first encountered murder books when they were doing research at an LAPD homicide department during their stint as co-executive producers on NBC's "Boomtown.""There are 23 sections in a murder book," Brancato tells the HR. "It is a record going from the crime scene through the scientific, investigative and interrogatory steps that it takes to solve the crime of homicide in the city of L.A."The duo will write the pilot script for "Murder Book" and will also serve as executive producers. The series would come from 20th Century Fox TV, where the writer-producers have a deal.In addition to "North Shore" and "Boomtown," Brancato and Salke have worked on FOX's "Tru Calling" and on "Miracles" for ABC.
